Wallpapers
Put a picture, a video or an animated shader behind your canvas.
Change what's behind your canvas in Settings → Appearance.
Built-in wallpapers
- Plain: the default, calm and dark.
- Rain glasshouse and Cherry blossom lake (a looping video).
- Ribbons and Drift: two animated shaders, marked Animated.
Click one to use it.
Add your own
Click Add your own and pick a file, or drop files onto the wallpaper grid:
- Images: PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or AVIF.
- Videos: MP4 or WebM.
- Shaders:
.glsl,.frag,.fsor.shaderfiles.
Images and videos can be up to 300 MB, shader files up to 256 KB. Morphy keeps a copy, so you can move or delete the original. To remove one, click its ×. Your own file stays where it is.
Paste a shader
Found a shader you like on Shadertoy? Click Paste shader code…, paste the code (a Shadertoy mainImage or a GLSL fragment shader), give it a Name and click Add and use it. Shaders that need textures or sound aren't supported.
While a shader is your wallpaper, you get two more settings:
- Animation: Light, Balanced or Smooth (up to 20, 30 or 60 frames per second). Balanced is the default. If your computer can't keep up, Morphy shows a still frame and tells you; Light may let it move.
Shaders also stand still when Windows' animation effects are off (Morphy says "your computer asks apps for less motion"), and in extra Morphy windows. Turn animation effects back on in Windows Settings → Accessibility → Visual effects to let them move.
- Moves with the canvas: on by default. The shader drifts along when you pan and zoom, slower than your cards, like a far-off layer. Turn it off and it stays put.
See-through cards
To let the wallpaper show through, select cards or chats and lower their Card background opacity in the toolbar. See The canvas.
