Terminal, browser and env vars

The side dock gives every project a real terminal, a browser and an editor for its .env files.

The dock on the right side of Morphy has three tabs: Terminal, Browser and Env vars. Open or close it with Ctrl + Shift + B. It opens on the tab you used last, and you can make it wider or narrower by dragging its left edge.

You can also open it from Ctrl + K (Toggle terminal and browser) or with Settings → General → Terminal and browser. Morphy remembers whether you left it open, also after a restart.

Typing in a chat?

Ctrl + Shift + B doesn't work while the cursor is in a text box, including the terminal itself. Click an empty spot on the canvas first.

Terminal

A real terminal: PowerShell 7 if you have it, otherwise Windows PowerShell, otherwise the command prompt.

  • Every project has its own terminals, and they open in the project's folder. A project without a folder uses Morphy's data folder.
  • Click + (New terminal) for another one. Each tab's × ends what runs in it.
  • Terminals keep running when you switch projects or close the dock.
ToPress
CopyCtrl + C with text selected, or Ctrl + Shift + C
Stop the running commandCtrl + C with nothing selected
PasteCtrl + V or Ctrl + Shift + V
Copy or paste with the mouseRight-click (copies a selection, otherwise pastes)

If the shell ends (for example you typed exit), press Enter for a new one.

Browser

A simple browser for checking a page while your agents work, for example the site an agent is building on localhost.

  • Type an address and press Enter. example.com becomes https://example.com.
  • For a local dev server, type the whole address, with http://: http://localhost:3000. Without it, localhost:3000 doesn't open.
  • Back, Forward and Reload sit next to the address bar.
  • It remembers the last page you opened.

The address bar takes addresses only: typing words doesn't search the web. Pages in it can't reach Morphy or your files.

Env vars

Shows the .env files in the open project's folder (.env, .env.local, .env.production and so on), with a dropdown when there are several.

  • Values are hidden until you click Show value (or Show all values). Copy value copies one without showing it.
  • Add, Edit and Delete change the file directly, keeping its comments and order.
  • Import from a .env: paste the contents of another .env file, or drop the file onto the pane. You see how many keys are new, updated or unchanged before you confirm. An import never removes a key.
  • If the file changed on disk in the meantime, Morphy won't overwrite it: click Reload and make your change again.

A project without a folder has no .env files to show.
